I thank Thomas Shields for sharing his version of Sesame Street (letter, Jan. 3). Here’s mine, brought to you by the letter “R.”

“R” stands for Republican. Could it also stand for “reprehensible”?

The Republican-led House of Representatives is the least productive Congress in history. Members took 47 votes trying to repeal Obamacare. Not one jobs bill. Reprehensible?

As of August 2013, President Barack Obama had taken 92 vacation days compared to former President George W. Bush’s 367 at the same point in his presidency (politifact.com). Where was Bush when he was supposed to be hunting Osama bin Laden?

The House of Representatives is headed by an “R” (John Boehner), whose idea of corrective legislation is 47 votes to repeal Obamacare and not one jobs bill. This is not biased but a matter of public record.

It’s not the Sun Journal that people should judge for its reporting on the reprehensible behavior of Gov. Paul LePage but, rather, LePage himself (the Vaseline comment seems to be my best example of LePage’s total lack of dignity and respect for the office of governor).

It is reprehensible that Republicans such as Shields ignore the meaning of responsibility when it comes to members of their own party. Again, not biased. A matter of record.

Republicans claim to be the party of personal accountability and individual responsibility, then blame every problem in America on Democrats, liberals and Hollywood.

Republicans’ lack of respect and their unwillingness to take responsibility for their inability to govern is reprehensible.
