Pilar Hewey, 9, of Auburn and Shaunte Richard of Lewiston walk from Trinity Episcopal Church to Calvary United Methodist Church in Lewiston on Friday during the annual candlelight vigil to remember homeless people during the holiday season. About 70 people participated in the walk organized by the Lewiston/Auburn Alliance for Services to the Homeless and New Beginnings. National Homeless Persons’ Memorial Day falls on Saturday during the winter solstice, the first day of winter and the longest night of the year.
