Bridgton’s Festival of Lights
BRIDGTON — Bridgton’s 11th annual Festival of lights will be held Saturday, Dec. 7.
The event will start with a candlelight stroll, gathering at Pondicherry Square at 5:25 p.m.
The parade starts at 5:30 p.m. at Stevens Brook Elementary School and ends at the Bridgton Community Center, 15 Depot St.
The lighting of the Community Center Christmas tree will take place at 6:15 p.m., followed at 6:30 p.m. by a visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus at the Community Center.
Buffet breakfast benefits food, fuel
HARRISON — A buffet breakfast will take place from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at the Olde Mill Tavern, 56 Main St.
Meal includes scrambled eggs, homemade pancakes, home fries, fruit, sausage, coffee cake, muffins, coffee, tea, hot cocoa and orange juice.
Cost is by donations.
All proceeds will provide Christmas food cards and fuel assistance for those in need in our local community.
The breakfast is hosted by the United Parish Congregational Church of Harrison and North Bridgton.
AARP to hold holiday meeting
PARIS — The holiday meeting of the AARP Oxford Hills Chapter will be held on Monday, Dec. 9, at the First Congregational Church on East Main Street.
Lunch will be served at noon and reservations are required by calling Ruth at 744-9069 by noon on Friday, Dec. 6. Chicken pie is on the menu and the cost is $6.50.
The meeting will begin at 1 p.m. and members are reminded to bring their volunteer hours for the year. Also donations to the Food Pantry would be appreciated. There will be no meeting in January and the program committee would welcome any ideas for future programs.
The winter weather cancellation policy is to meet the following day, Tuesday, during December, February and March. Cancellations will be announced on radio station WOXO, 92.7 or if school has been cancelled.
Ledgeview Christmas sale
WEST PARIS — The Ledgeview Living Center will hold its annual Christmas sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec 10-11, and from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday, Dec. 12, at 141 Bethel Road.
Any donations of handiwork or baked goods will be graciously accepted.
Lewiston Bridge Club winners
LEWISTON — The Lewiston Bridge Club winners at the Lewiston Armory on Dec. 2 were as follows: first, Rosemarie and Tom Goodwin; second, Les Buzzell and Paul Sherman; third, Roger Labbe and Luke Merry; first in B, Cynthia and Bill Clifford.
Winners on Dec. 3 were: first, Kathleen Burden and Mary Trafton; second/third tie, Jeanine Kivus and Fred Letourneau with Marta Clements and Hazel Glazier; fourth, Luke Merry and Mike Quinn.
Games are played every Monday and Tuesday at 9 a.m. in the Seniors’ Room at the Lewiston Armory, 65 Central Ave. A partner is always guaranteed and all bridge players are welcomed. Call Rosemarie at 754-1431 for more information.
