I do not understand why the president of the United States misled Americans by telling us that, under the Affordable Care Act, we could keep our health insurance plans if we so wished. Now we find out that was untrue.

Was President Obama aware of that? Evidence is showing that he was aware.

People across the political spectrum trusted him and believed him when he urged Congress to pass Obamacare.

I understand that the president, Minority Leader Rep. Nancy Pelosi and Majority Leader Sen. Harry Reid felt passionately regarding the creation of the Affordable Care Act. Passion is one thing but, above all, be honest with the people back home. Don’t mislead us. The truth always prevails in the end.

President Obama misspoke when he told insured in the single market that they can now go back to their old plans. Problem is, those plans no longer exist and health insurance companies simply cannot, by law, give those old plans back. Don’t blame the insurance carriers, it is not their fault. It is President Obama’s fault because he signed the Affordable Care Act into law.

President Obama does not have the constitutional right to now make any changes to the law. In order to change the law, legislation must be written and agreed to, passed by the full House and Senate and then signed into law by the president.

The president does not have the constitutional power to do so on his own.
