SANFORD — Police have put out photographs taken from a surveillance camera of a man who robbed a credit union on Saturday morning.
The department received a call shortly after 11 a.m. to the report of a robbery in progress at the Ocean Communities Federal Credit Union on Alfred Road.
Officers arrived and determined that a male had entered the bank, displayed a long barrel silver revolver, and demanded money from two tellers, according to a news release from the Sanford Police Department. He fled with an undisclosed amount of money into the woods near the Center for Shopping Plaza.
The man is described as in his late 40s, approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing 200 pounds, with a salt and pepper mustache and facial stubble. He was wearing jeans with a wallet chain, a gray or olive drab half-zip pullover, a black watch cap, black gloves. and sunglasses. He was also reported as having a deep voice.
The Sanford Police Department is offering a $500 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction of the suspect. Anyone with information contact the Sanford Police Department at 324-9170, and select option 4 for the criminal investigative division.
