Maine Family Federal Credit Union recently presented a check for $500 to the Turner Primary School to help expand the school’s garden project. The garden project is 100 percent donation-funded. The garden is a project that promotes and encourages outdoor learning, nature appreciation and a love of gardening. The garden will encourage healthy eating through exploration of garden foods. The children planted greens, tomato, cucumber, pumpkin and sunflower seedlings. At the donation ceremony were, from left, Ann Rothe, 2; Elizabeth Rothe, school garden coordinator; Jeanne Prince, pre-kindergarten teacher; Gavin Rothe, 5; and Theresa Gillis, Turner Primary School principal.
