LEWISTON — The Greater Androscoggin Humane Society invites the public to the ASPCA Mega Match-a-thon on Friday, Oct. 18, Saturday, Oct. 19, and Sunday, Oct. 20.

They will join 38 other organizations across the country also participating in this adoption event. The goal of GAHS is to adopt 200 or more animals in those three days.

Dozens of dogs, cats, puppies and kittens of many different breeds, sizes and colors will be at GAHS waiting to meet new owners. In addition to the adoptable pets at the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society, other shelters and rescues from around the state will also have pets available for adoption as the main goal of this event is to simply get pets adopted.

All pets will not only be spayed or neutered, micro-chipped and up to date on vaccinations before going to their new home, they will leave the shelter sporting a new collar, leash and personalized ID tag courtesy of ASPCA.

Adoption fees will be waived on all adult cats (6 months and older) and adult dogs (1 year and older) throughout the three days. Adoption fees on younger pets will be as follows: $100 for kittens under 6 months, $300 for puppies under 6 months and $100 for dogs 6 months to 1 year old. Discounted adoption fees do not include “VIP Pets.”

GAHS is at 55 Strawberry Ave. To learn more about volunteering or adopting call 783-2311, visit www.SavingPetsInMaine.org or follow them at www.facebook.com/gahumane.
