Free soccer clinic for kids grade 5 through 8

The Blue Devils varsity boys soccer team will conduct a free soccer clinic for any fifth-, sixth- and seventh-grade boys’ or girls’ players at the Upper Franklin field next to Marcotte Park, which is behind the Colisee on Saturday Oct. 5 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. There is no cost because the clinic is administered by the players with a coach overseeing the activity. Lewiston coach Mike McGraw will be available for any questions from parents and youth coaches who are welcome to attend. Players are asked to bring a well-marked ball if they have one.

Ski equipment sale

Carrabassett Valley — On Saturday, Oct. 12, Carrabassett Valley Academy’s annual Ski and Sports Equipment Sale will be held at the Anti Gravity Complex in Carrabassett Valley. The sale will host a variety of new and used ski/snowboard equipment and gear, as well as some miscellaneous sporting items as well.

The doors open at 10 a.m. and close at 2:30 p.m. Anyone planning to bring items to sell may do so on Friday, Oct. 11 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturday, Oct 12 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Breaking for Breast Cancer Awareness.

Phoenix Karate has teamed up with the YWCA of Lewiston, Hancock Lumber, Varsity Lettering and Taggrahics to promote Breast Cancer Awareness and raise money for local breast cancer fighter Barbara Gagne, a 32-year-old mother of two. The event will be held on Oct. 5 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the YWCA on East Ave in Lewiston.

The event will include entertainment from the Phoenix Karate Demo Team and Mr. Drew and his animals too. There will also be other fun filled activities, face painting, craft sale, bake sale, raffels, chair massages by Kellie Lecroix. Sosai Donna will attempt to  break 300 boards in less than one minute!

L/A Senior Hockey League opens

The L/A Senior Hockey League in Auburn starts its 20 season this coming weekend on Oct. 4 and 6. The league has now grown to 12 teams, welcoming John’s Carpentry and the Lewiston Police Department. Here is the following opening game schedule to start the season:
