The Sept. 5 article, “Common Core worries prompt LePage,” reported that Gov. Paul LePage signed documents claiming that Maine schools should be controlled locally. Other people seem to disagree and think that the federal government should control schools.

I believe that the federal government should control school systems’ educational standards. If schools are locally controlled, students in some states might not be getting the same education as others. College admission tests are standardized nationally, so all states should have the same learning standards.

Having schools controlled nationally would ensure that all students would be getting a fair education.

Gov. LePage should rethink his choice.
