Mission Circle harvest supper

BOWDOIN — The Mission Circle will hold its annual harvest supper from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at West Bowdoin Baptist Church, 54 West Road.

The meal includes baked beans and red flannel hash.

Cost is $7 for adults, $3.50 for ages 5-11 and free for preschoolers.

Mid-Coast College Fair

BRUNSWICK — The Mid-Coast College Fair will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, at Brunswick High School, 116 Maquoit Road. The BHS Counseling Department is hosting the fair.

The list of colleges attending can be accessed at www.brunswick.k12.me.us/bhs/. More than 115 colleges will be represented. Students of all grades and their parents are invited to meet with representatives and gather information from various colleges.

The New England Association of College Admissions Counselors has helped to make this fair possible by sharing a list of post-secondary institutions registered for NEACAC-sponsored college fairs at the University of Maine and the University of Southern Maine.

Girl Scout info, registration

LEWISTON — Girl Scouts of Maine will host parent information and registration meetings at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, at Geiger Elementary School, 601 College St., and at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, at the Caleb Community Center, 84 Strawberry Ave.

Girls and adults are invited to attend the meeting to find out about the many different and fun ways today’s girls are participating in Girl Scouting and how the programs and activities inspire them to reach their personal best. Participants will also learn about the flexible options and benefits of becoming a Girl Scout volunteer.

Pig roast dinner to benefit pantry

DURHAM — A Pig Roast Harvest Dinner to benefit LACO’s Food Pantry will be held at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, at Durham Friends Meetinghouse, 532 Quaker Meetinghouse Road, at the corner of Route 125 (Pinkham Brook) and Quaker Meetinghouse (Durham) Road.

Menu will be roast pork, vegetarian baked beans, cornbread, squash, a variety of salads, plus pies and crisp for dessert. Quiche will be available for vegetarians.

Tickets for adults are $10 in advance, $12 at the door; seniors and teens, $8/$10; family of 5, $25/$30; and children, $5.

The Lisbon Area Christian Outreach Food Pantry serves hundreds of people every month, people who otherwise cannot afford to put enough food on the table for their families. Donations of food and money are vital for the success of the food pantry.

Yoga Festival is Sept. 28

LEWISTON — Jim Wilkins, development director at the Auburn Public Library, is getting ready for a new charity event benefiting the Auburn Public Library and YWCA of Central Maine. The Great Falls Yoga Festival will be held Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Royal Oak Room and the Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope and Healing.

Registration is open at www.greatfallsyogafestival.org. Folks can also register from 7 to 7:45 a.m. on the day of the festival at the Royal Oak Room.

Methodist Women bean, ham supper

LISBON — The Methodist Women will hold a home baked bean and ham supper from 5 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, at the United Methodist Church, 14 School St.

Cost is $7 for adults, $3 for ages 6 to 12 and free for 5 and under.

Old-fashioned farm breakfast

MINOT — The Minot Methodist Church, at the corner of Route 121 and Empire Road, will host an old-fashioned country farm breakfast from 7:30 to 10 a,m, Saturday, Sept. 28.

This is an opportunity to see what our ancestors ate following their early morning chores. Tickets are $6 for adults and children under the age of 6 are free.

Ricker Library open house Sept. 28

POLAND — A free open house will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Ricker Memorial Library, Route 26. The open house will be presented by many of the Community Room patrons.

Representing all manner of activities and crafts will be the 4-H Club, Maine Fish and Wildlife, Maine Woodcarvers, Lifesprings representative, the Seniors Group, the Poland Recreation Department with Scott Segal, Scraps, Patches, and Quilters, info regarding the Poland Conservation Commission & Bragdon Hill Trails Conservation Area, an informative and interesting Library Table and more.

There will also be a quilt raffle and an American Girl Doll raffle, including hand-made clothes for the doll made by folks in Poland. The raffles will be drawn on Dec. 7.

This is the ninth in a series of programs celebrating Ricker Library’s 50th anniversary year.

Sabattus Seniors to meet Oct. 3

SABATTUS — Sabattus Seniors will meet Thursday, Oct. 3, at Maxwell Gill Hall for the monthly meeting and meal.

This month’s menu will be beef stew with pickles, bread and butter and dessert. This will be followed by the monthly meeting. RSVP for this luncheon must be made by Sept. 29 by calling Pauline at 375-4037 for sign ups and cancellations.

There will be no meeting in November. That meeting will be held on Oct. 31 due to previous hall rental. For that meeting attendees must call in by Oct. 27. Members will be serving spaghetti with meatballs, salad, bread and dessert, followed by the monthly meeting and bingo.

Trips left for this year are Rhode Island/Connecticut for casinos and overnight dinner show, also Indian Head Christmas Spectacular. For these trips call Jean at 784-5264.
