This is in response to Alex Libby’s letter to the editor (Sept. 18) that responded to my letter of Sept. 13. Libby wrote that I did not know anything about tattoo parlors.

I have to admit that I don’t know anything about them, and I don’t want to know.

In my letter, I never mentioned anything about people using drugs or alcoholics relating to tattoos. If his thoughts led him toward that conclusion, he must feel like what many others do about people with tattoos. I just wonder why anyone would want to cover his body with tattoos.

I am a firm believer of what someone’s first appearance tells me about that person, and someone with tattoos does not fit with what I have in mind.

I don’t mind a small tattoo on a shoulder or ankle, or below the neck or someone’s back, but to have them on every part of your body only proves to me that you like to spend foolishly. And what does it actually prove?

There are people around here who cannot afford to put a meal on the table for their children, yet manage to find money to get a tattoo. But the kids have to depend on school lunch programs to get a decent meal.
