AUGUSTA — The Maine Board of Corrections voted 5-2 Tuesday against a request to return the Franklin County Jail to full-service operation.

The jail was converted to a 72-hour holding facility in July 2009 as part of a state’s effort to reduce costs.

The Sun Journal will have more details on the decision and reaction from county officials later today at www.sunjournal.com and tomorrow in the Sun Journal.
