HEBRON — An Eagle Scout candidate is organizing a spaghetti supper on Saturday, Sept. 14, to raise funds for welcome signs in Hebron.
Zane Dustin of Hebron, a member of Boy Scout Troop 130, is working to raise $1,600 for the installation of four “Welcome to Hebron” signs on the two state routes that crisscross the town. The signs will be installed on Route 124 near the Minot and Buckfield town lines and on Route 119 near the Minot and Paris town lines.
The design for the signs was selected from submissions by students at Hebron Station School and approved by the Hebron Board of Selectmen.
The original design was created last spring by Victoria Eichorn, now a seventh-grade student at Oxford Hills Middle School. The artwork for the sign was rendered by Mike Spugnardi of Spugnardi Signs in Turner.
The spaghetti supper will be held from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Hebron Station School cafeteria. The cost is $5 a person or $15 a family.
The supper will feature raffles. Home produced “Hebron Honey” will also be for sale. All proceeds from the honey sale will be donated to the sign project.
Those attending the supper are asked to bring bottles and cans for a bottle drive also being held to support the sign project. Those who cannot participate in the supper event but would like to contribute to the bottle drive may leave bottle and cans at 859 Buckfield Road in Hebron. A marked container will be located in the driveway. Bottle drive supporters can also call 570-0303 and arrange to have the returnables picked up.
Anyone seeking more information about the sign project or associated fundraising events should call Kim Dustin at 576-0761.
