Fryeburg rally offers cycling, music and more
FRYEBURG – The 21st annual Maine Bike Rally in Fryeburg on July 10-12 will feature bicycle riding for all levels of cyclists plus live music and a full schedule of family-friendly entertainment.
The rally includes more than 35 road and off-road rides in western Maine and New Hampshire’s Mount Washington Valley. They include routes meandering through the White Mountain National Forest; the challenging Wicked Hilly Triple Notched Century; a bicycle tour of local gardens; a star-gazing night ride; visits to covered bridges, historic sites and swimming holes; several mountain bike rides; and trips that combine hiking and biking.
Based at Fryeburg Academy, the rally also will have a time trial race (where each cyclist races against the clock), bike parade, ice cream social, films, a musical performance by Al Hospers and Sounds Clever, a bike expo, art show and other entertainment.
The all-inclusive weekend price covers tenting, meals, rides, activities and a rally T-shirt. Registration fees for those who sign up by June 25 start at $90 for adults, $30 for children ages 6 to 15, with children 5 and under attending for free. This is the rally’s second year in Fryeburg. Last year, about 700 cyclists from all over the United States and Canada attended the event.
The Maine Bike Rally is hosted by the Bicycle Coalition of Maine, Casco Bay Bicycling Club, Merrymeeting Wheelers Bicycle Club, Fryeburg Academy and the town of Fryeburg.
