Central Maine Detachment
AUBURN — The Central Maine Detachment 810 will hold its regular meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, at the American Legion Post 31, Washington Street.
All FMF corpsmen are welcome to be part of the detachment.
Church bake sale, bottle drive
HEBRON — The Hebron Community Baptist Church will host a church sale/bake sale/bottle drive from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 2.
The event is to raise money to purchase new visual media equipment for the church. Stop by to buy and BYOB (bring your own bottles — to donate).
The church is on Station Road, next door to the Hebron Academy.
Quilting classes aid United Church
MONMOUTH — The following fall quilting classes with Nancy Ludewig are being offered at Packard Activity Center, under the United Church of Monmouth.
Tuscany Tote Bag runs for four Tuesdays from Sept. 3-24 from 5 to 7 p.m. The cost is $15.
Lover’s Knot quilt class will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays from Oct. 1 through Dec. 3. The cost is $20.
If people sign up for both classes then both classes would cost $25.

LEWISTON — A free Raw Foods Cooking Class will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, at The Ark, 791 Lisbon St.

Cribbage/pinochle Leagues to begin
LEWISTON — The Lewiston Senior Citizens cribbage and pinochle leagues at the Lewiston Memorial Armory will begin Thursday, Sept. 5.
Cribbage begins promptly at 9 a.m. and pinochle at 1.

Bean supper at Gray Legion
GRAY — A bean supper will take place from 5 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, at the American Legion Hall, 15 Lewiston Road.
Menu includes chop suey, cole slaw, hot dogs, breads and desserts.
Cost is $8 for adults, $15 for couples, $2.50 for ages 5-11, and free for under 5.
The supper is hosted by the Auxiliary.
Cary Library sale, boutique
WAYNE — The Cary Library Book Sale and Boutique will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 7, at the Williams House, 14 Old Winthrop Road, across the street from the Cary Library.
Take a morning break and shop at the ongoing book sale and boutique. Coffee, tea and breakfast breads will be for sale. Copies of the New York Times and the Boston Globe are available, as well as Wi-Fi and a comfortable place to settle down.
Proceeds will benefit the Williams House, a property of the Cary Library.
Lisbon Area Widows group
LISBON — The Lisbon Area Widows Fellowship will meet for fellowship and a potluck lunch at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 9, at the Lisbon United Methodist Church, School Street.
All interested widows in the area are invited to attend.
The group meets the first Monday of each month. If it is a holiday, then they meet on the second Monday.
