WALES — The third attempt at passing a 2013-14 school budget appears to have succeeded.
Sabattus voted 175-152 in favor and Litchfield 120-61 in favor in a referendum Tuesday, according to a clerk in each town.
Results for Wales weren’t available Tuesday night. The budget narrowly passed in Wales during the first vote and was narrowly defeated the second time.
It must past by a simple, cumulative majority in all three towns to take effect.
The new budget, $17.6 million, is a 0.15 percent increase over last year. This latest attempt cut the iPad budget for kindergarten through grade three pupils, raised activity-fee rates at the high school and introduced activity fees at the middle school.
Regional School Unit 4 officials have estimated the property-tax impact to be increases of $1.18 per $1,000 of property value in Sabattus, 58 cents in Litchfield and $1 in Wales.
