The event at 49 Franklin will host “Celtic Cabaret” with magician Scot Grassette, New Brunswick fiddler Kathleen Gorey-McSorley, and Maine’s popular duo “The Squid Jiggers.” The host will be multi-talented Maine native Dave Rowe.

The Squid Jiggers are a Maine-based folk duo comprised of inveterate musician-entertainers Rowe and Troy R. Bennett. They took their name from the A.R. Scammell song “Squid Jigging Ground” which speaks to the influences of the Maritimes on our culture in Maine.

Grassette is an award-winning magician who has been performing magic for over 25 years. In 2002, he won the New England Stage Magic Competition in Worchester, Mass. Add to that the rich, Irish styling of 19-year-old fiddle phenom and step dancer Kathleen Gorey-McSorley from New Brunswick and you get a perfect storm of fast hands, fast fiddles, fast feet, fast songs and Maine humor.

The event at the Rumford Falls Auditorium will be home to an impressive lineup of three internationally recognized Acadian music groups: the Lina Boudreau Trio, Dominique Dupuis, and Arsenault.

The Celtic festival covers both Franklin and Oxford Counties and offers a total of 18 live shows and more than 100 artists from across Nova Scotia, Cape Breton, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, Quebec, Scotland, and Ireland, as well as from across the U.S.

A complete list of artists for this Celtic festival can be found at http://crossroadscelticfestival.com/artists. Tickets are $15 with a 7 p.m. start time at both events.

Also happening in Rumford from Wednesday, Sept. 11 to Sunday, Sept. 15, is the Rumford Heritage Festival, a street fair featuring local vendors, crafters, artists, ethnic foods, and a musical jam session that will include bagpipes. The street fair is organized by Envision Rumford.
