GRAY — Three professional chainsaw artists will demonstrate their work from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, at the Maine Wildlife Park.

Ron Carlson is a professional chainsaw carver from China, Maine. He began woodcarving in the mid 1960s; in the early 1990s a friend introduced him to the chainsaw. The speed and versatility of chainsaw cutting amazed him, and his lifelong hobby became his business in 1993.

Tim Pickett is from southern Maine and has carved the very popular bear, turtle and mountain lion at the wildlife park. Thousands of people have enjoyed these beautiful life-sized carvings and have had their photographs taken with them.

Dan Burns is from the Augusta area and specializes in carving bears and birds. He does free-standing carvings as well as stumps. You can see a large sampling of his work on his website at www.burnsbears.com.

Bring cameras and earplugs. The artists will have carvings for sale, too.
