I read “Busy Monday: LePage vetoes 21 more bills” in Tuesday’s Sun Journal (July 9).
Gov. LePage has vetoed 82 bills this legislative session, which is 33 more than former Gov. Longley, who held the record for single-session vetoes with 49 in 1977.
Please, pass the smelling salts. I am beginning to swoon.
Among other legislative documents, the governor vetoed LD 1198, which would have lifted a ban on receiving unemployment benefits during a week a person receives more than four weeks of vacation pay.
Why would state senators and representatives even pass a bill such as LD 1198?
I thank the governor for breaking the record.
