The Lewisotn School Committee approved Amber Eliason to be principal at McMahon Elementary School and Amanda Winslow to be principal at Farwell Elementary School.
LEWISTON — Two of the city’s elementary schools are getting new principals.
The Lewiston School Committee this week unanimously tapped two district veterans to take the helm at Farwell and McMahon schools.
Amanda Winslow, who has been an assistant principal at Lewiston Middle School, will be in charge at Farwell. She said she is “very, very excited” at the opportunity.
Amber Eliason, an assistant principal at Montello Elementary School for the past two years, said she’s learned from the best about what it takes.
“I can’t wait to get to know the staff, students and families” at her new school, Eliason said.
Both women, each of whom has taught in the classroom, praised Superintendent Bill Webster and the educators he leads. Eliason called them “one big team.”
Winslow said that Webster deserved credit for the way he “encourages and empowers” teachers to move up the administrative ladder in Lewiston.
