RUMFORD — Tom Fallon of 239 Spruce St. in Rumford has created an art display with red ribbons tied to the branches of his white birches.
“Red ribbons tied to the branches of white birches, moving slowly in the breeze, are a simple art form, as are so many today in the minimalism art category,” Fallon said recently.
“The color red — as everyone knows — is a vital color, representing the vibrancy of life. So this form is called by its color, simply, RED.”
He said the the ribbons moving in the breeze emphasize the living nature of the art form.
“A simple, happy, joyous vision, the ribbons present corresponding to the simple, happy, joyous nature of life that is so valued by all human beings,” he said. “And the surprise, the ribbons tied to trees on a lawn can stimulate a human being’s mind in a positive way. RED is the good of life.”
