PARIS — A Chelsea man will serve 18 months for robbing the Fryeburg Rite-Aid for oxycodone pills last October.

Michael E. Freeman, 25, pleaded guilty in Oxford County Superior Court on Tuesday to robbery. A charge of operating after license revocation was dismissed.

During the Fryeburg Fair last year, Freeman entered the Rite Aid store on Bridgton Road and handed the pharmacist a note that read: “Oxycodone 30s in a bag and no one will get hurt, now,” according to a police report by officer Richard Murray of the Fryeburg Police Department.

Police caught up to Freeman’s truck in traffic near the intersection of Routes 5 and 302, where he was stuck in Fryeburg Fair traffic. After calling the truck’s owner, Freeman’s employer, and getting permission to search the truck, police found the note, a Rite Aid bag and the pills.

Freeman was sentenced Tuesday to six years with all but 18 months suspended, followed by three years of probation. The execution of his sentence was stayed until June 26.
