HOLLIS — Evangeline Audyne Keniston died at her home on Sunday, May 5 after a long illness.

She was born Aug. 20, 1921, in Levant, to Everett and Zillah Rockwell. The Keniston’s were residents of Bryant Pond for 58 years. They have been residing at 214 Plains Road in Hollis for the past 2½ years.

Evangeline graduated from Oakland High School in 1939. She attended Colby College in Waterville and Becker Business School in Worcester, Mass. Floyd and Evangeline were married in Oakland, Feb. 9, 1945.

Mr. and Mrs. Keniston were members of the Bryant Pond Baptist Church and now attend the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Hollis. Evangeline enjoyed playing the piano and the organ at home and at church. She was an accomplished seamstress, making all of her daughter’s dresses for school, as well as knitting and crocheting for her family.

Her loving husband, Floyd, devoted all his time to care for her through her long illness. Evangeline’s gentle, kind heart made a difference to all who knew her.

Mrs. Keniston is survived by her husband of 68 years, Floyd Francis Keniston; three daughters, Karen Neary of Standish, Kathy Cummings of Bethel and Kendra Ouellette and husband, Chet, of Hollis; a son, Kendall Keniston and wife, Suzette, of South Paris; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three living brothers; and a sister.

She was predeceased by three brothers; and a sister.
