WASHINGTON, D.C. — Audrey Lynn Coffman of Buckfield has accepted membership in the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. She lives with her husband Travis and four children.

“NSCS is more than just a symbol of academic achievement. Membership gives students access to a number of amazing benefits including career and networking resources, scholarships, travel and service projects both on campus and in the community,” said Stephen E. Loflin, NSCS founder and chief executive officer.

NSCS is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies and is the nation’s only interdisciplinary honors organization for the first-year and second-year college students. Membership is by invitation only, based on grade point average and class standing.

NEW YORK — Esther Schlotterbeck of Auburn has been selected to participate in the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange for Young Professionals, a year-long, federally-funded fellowship for study and work in Germany. Schlotterbeck has studied at Macalester College and was selected as one of 75 participants, from more than 600 applicants, for this unique fellowship program. Since 1984, approximately 1,650 Americans have been awarded this opportunity to gain cultural, theoretical and practical work experience in Germany, and Schlotterbeck will participate in the 30th year of the CBYX program.

While in Germany on CBYX, Schlotterbeck will attend a two-month intensive German language course, study at a German university or professional school for four months and complete a five-month internship with a German company in her career field of environmental studies. Participants are placed throughout Germany, and have the opportunity to learn about everyday German life from a variety of perspectives.

CBYX is a reciprocal scholarship program. Young German professionals will live here in the United States during the upcoming academic year.
