BRUNSWICK — The Brunswick Shambhala Meditation Center, 19 Mason St., will offer two meditation and art programs, “Coming to Your Senses” and “Seeing Things As They Are,” on April 5 to 7 as part of an ongoing Shambhala art series.
“Coming to Your Senses” explores how the sense perceptions connect one to the present moment where creative inspiration arises. “Seeing Things As They Are” looks at how one perceives and the difference between thoughts and the true nature of things themselves.
The classes blend meditation with the creative process in a five-part program over four weekends. Part 1 and 2 will be presented in the first weekend with Part 3 offered in June 2013.
The program is designed for anyone interested in creating a genuine expression in any medium, whether music, visual arts, writing, gardening, or just creating a meaningful life.
The program is based on the teachings of Tibetan Buddhist meditation master, Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche, as found in his book, True Perception.
The program is co-led by Dr. Michael Doucet, Cajun fiddler with the Grammy award winning group, Beau Soleil, and Rebekah Younger, photographer/fine artist. The weekend will begin at 7 p.m. Friday, April 5, with a public talk, “Back to Square One,” that is included in the weekend fee or separately for a $10 donation.
It continues from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, April 6 and 7. The course fee is $140/weekend, including a materials fee of $15. For more information, contact Joy Kish at joykish@roadrunner.com or 890-9859. Register online at www.shambhalabp.org.
