Confession, Stations available

STATEWIDE — At least one church in each Catholic parish throughout Maine will be open for confession (Sacrament of Reconciliation) from Monday, March 11, through Friday, March 15, between 6 and 7 p.m. each day. The initiative, The Light is On for You, aims to help worshipers prepare for the celebration of Easter.

Maine Catholics, especially those who have been away from the church, are invited to experience God’s mercy and forgiveness through sacramental confession. The Stations of the Cross will be prayed at many parishes and churches across the diocese during Lent. The Stations of the Cross have been prayed for centuries, allowing Christians who are unable to make a pilgrimage to the Holy Land to spiritually follow in the steps Jesus took from judgment to crucifixion and burial. Native American teaching circle

NORWAY — The Spirit of the Wind Spiritual Center will hold a Native American teaching circle at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 17, at the Unitarian Universalist, 479 Main St.

The subject will be coming together as one. The guest speaker will be Carl Two Feathers Whitaker, Mohegan elder. Native regalia can be worn. All nations are welcome. There will be potluck afterwards.

Visit by ‘Color of Community’

NORWAY — All members of the community are invited to come experience a special event, the “Color of Community,” at 11 a.m. Sunday, March 24, at the Norway Unitarian Universalist Church, 479 Main St.

Color of Community is a nonprofit group consisting of college students who have come to the U.S. from countries all over the world as one way to share who they are. These young adults have written their “Sacred Stories” how they have experienced life. They volunteer their time to present across the state at faith groups, community gatherings and schools. They share their personal and moving stories as a way to decrease stereotyping, bias and prejudice, replacing it with forgiveness, tolerance and love.

The hope of “Color of Community” is to expand thinking, to open minds and hearts, to build community and to demonstrate we are more the same than different.

Religious Education and childcare are provided and social hour follows the service.

Good Friday Observance

LEWISTON — Pathway Vineyard Church, at 12 Foss Road, will observe Good Friday in their campus auditorium on Friday, March 29. A contemplative and intimate evening featuring live music, multi-media and dramatic presentation, this hour-long event will be dedicated to remembrance, reflection and restoration.

The evening begins at 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6:30 for a time of quiet reflection. This event is open to all, and childcare program will be provided.

Easter service, breakfast March 31

WILTON — Pilgrim Commandery No. 19 Knights Templar will hold its annual Easter service and breakfast at the Farmington/Wilton Harnden Masonic Lodge on the Bryant Road in East Wilton. The service is Sunday, March 31, at 7:30 a.m. All Sir Knights and Masons are invited to attend along with their sons and grandsons. Donation will be accepted for the breakfast.
