SABATTUS — The town is gearing up for roadwork.

Selectmen this week approved putting requests for proposals out to fix 3,170 feet of Jordan Bridge Road, 350 feet of King Road and 7,300 feet of Lisbon Road.

Town Manager Tony Ward said the town has set aside $231,000 for work this year and will wait to see what the bids are before deciding whether they can move ahead with adding sealant to eight other town roads.

A consultant from Pine Tree Engineering drew up a 10-year plan of recommendations on which roads the town ought to address in what order and Jordan Bridge, King and Lisbon were at the top of the list.

King Road “is in very rough shape,” Ward said.

It’s slated for 6 to 9 inches of gravel, a culvert replacement and paving.

The two other roads, which have seen more extensive work in recent years, are getting pothole repair and smoothing over.

Ward said selectmen will meet later this year to prioritize the rest of the consultant’s recommendations.
