WORCESTER, Mass. — Margaret Corrigan of New Gloucester, Maine, a junior majoring in civil engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, recently completed an intense, hands-on research project in Nantucket. The project was titled “Evaluating the Condition of Private Roads on Nantucket.”

At WPI, all undergraduates are required to complete a research-driven, professional-level project that addresses an important societal need or issue. About two-thirds of students complete a project at one of the university’s 35 off-campus project centers, which are located around the world.

SMITHFIELD, R.I. — Harris Roberts, a junior in entrepreneurship from Farmington, was named to the fall semester dean’s list at Bryant University.

Students in the Sustainability Semester live and take courses together on farm property near campus. Similar to the highly successful Adirondack Semester, students in the Sustainability Semester take courses that focus on sustainability from such disciplines as environmental studies, English, philosophy, history, performing arts, biology and geology.

Students will also work on site to grow food, build and help renovate energy-efficient structures, and live as sustainably as possible. In addition, students will engage with local community organizations and individuals with special experiences in land use and food production.
