Christmas carol sing-along
AUBURN — A Christmas carol sing-along about the birth of Jesus will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, at Turner Street Community Church, 263 Turner St.
The event is co-sponsored by the Auburn Church of the Nazarene.
Living Nativity set for Dec. 15
SUMNER — Pastor Howard MacMullen invites the community to the Congregational Church of East Sumner at 50 Main St. for the annual Living Nativity on Saturday, Dec. 15, at 6 p.m.
Paula Dobbins will read the Christmas story, the choir will sing the hymns and local youth will act out the story. Following that, everyone is invited inside for hot cocoa and cookies. In the event of rain, the Living Nativity will take place in the Sanctuary.
On Dec. 24, Pastor MacMullen will lead the Christmas Eve candlelight service at 7 p.m.
Kathy Saarinen will be the guest speaker at the 9 a.m. worship service on Dec. 30.
Wixson to be guest speaker
NORWAY — Jennifer Wixson will be speaking on “I Dwell In Possibility” on Sunday, Dec. 16, at 11 a.m. at Norway Unitarian Universalist Church, 479 Main St. Childcare is provided for the service and a social hour is to follow.
Maine farmer, author and itinerant Quaker minister, Wixson has been a regular guest speaker at both the 1st Universalist Church of Norway and the West Paris Universalist Church for more than 12 years.
Her new novel, “Hens and Chickens,” is the first in a series of novels, The Sovereign Series, set in the mythical small town of Sovereign, Maine (pop. 1,048). Wixson described the good-hearted residents of Sovereign in her pastoral message, “A Frost Pocket of Goodness,” delivered to both churches in the early spring. Books ‘N Things, 430 Main St., Norway, is hosting a book signing for “Hens and Chickens” on Saturday, Dec. 15. The author will be available to sign books from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. She lives in Troy, where she and her husband raise Scottish Highland cattle.
Calvary plans Christmas services
LEWISTON — Calvary United Methodist Church will hold services at 10:30 a.m. on Christmas Sunday, Dec. 23, and at 7 p.m. Christmas Eve, Monday, Dec. 24.
