AUBURN — A Lewiston man convicted of murder last month is seeking a new trial.
Buddy Robinson, 31, filed a motion through his attorney, Edward “Ted” Dilworth, in Androscoggin County Superior Court seeking acquittal or a new trial, according to court papers.
Robinson was found guilty by a jury on Nov. 16 following a two-week trial. He is being held without bail pending his sentencing, which likely won’t be scheduled until the spring, according to court clerks.
His largely procedural motion likely will be heard at that time, a clerk said.
Dilworth also filed a motion seeking permission from the court to send jurors from his client’s trial an exit survey in an effort to get more insight into their thinking about the verdict.
“Jury feedback following the verdict has proven to be extremely enlightening,” Dilworth wrote in his motion. “It provides a wealth of information for future cases and is an invaluable tool in improving our process as a whole. It is an excellent opportunity for growth in the areas of juror comfort as well as the preparedness and overall presentation.”
Among the questions posed in Dilworth’s proposed survey are:
* What facts in the case do you feel were most important to your decision?
* Who do you feel were the most credible witnesses?
* Which documents do you feel were the most important?
* How did you view the parties involved in this case?
Information about trial jurors, including their names and addresses are confidential.
