Christmas in Carthage events
CARTHAGE — On Saturday, Dec. 8, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Carthage Town Office Building, there will be a social, Christmas craft, color pages, bowling, snack and drinks. Events are free.
Christmas at the Carthage Historical Society will be held on Dec. 8 at 5:30 p.m. with a potluck supper and entertainment following at the Carthage Historical Building. Alan Tachney will entertain with his bag of tricks and Sammi Angel will be presenting her special Christmas program. There will be door prizes and 50/50 raffle tickets will be available for purchase. Drawing to be held that evening. Everyone is welcome; bring a favorite dish for the table.
The Carthage Union Church will hold a supper at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 9, with a Christmas service to follow. A premier showing of the movie “A Savior is Born” will follow supper. The movie was written by Pastor Ken Hinkley and actors are members of the Dixfield Common Baptist Church and the Carthage Union Church. This movie was filmed locally. Everyone is welcome.
Flu shot clinics announced
FARMINGTON — Public flu shots from Healthy Community Coalition of Greater Franklin County staff will be administered at the following locations: Saturday, Dec. 8, noon to 2 p.m. in the Franklin Memorial Hospital Bass Room; and Tuesday, Dec. 11, 5 to 7 p.m. in the Franklin Memorial Hospital Bass Room.
Due to the cost of the vaccine, there is a suggested donation of $20, or by donating what you can afford. Insurance, Medicare or Medicaid cannot be accepted. The HCC purchases all vaccine used and appreciates donations to help cover costs.
Flu shots will be provided to individuals 18 and older. Those who are under the age of 18 are recommended to contact their primary care medical provider.
Franklin Community Health Network is also reminding residents to call its flu hotline for updates about flu prevention, local flu vaccine availability and public flu shot clinics. The hotline number is 207-779-3147.

Worlds’ Fair meeting Dec. 9
WATERFORD — The December meeting of the Waterford Worlds’ Fair Association will be held at the Town Office on Sunday, Dec. 9, at 2 p.m. This will be a short business meeting with a social time after the meeting. Bring something to share for food but no gifts.
Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy the afternoon with the fair members and directors and find out what is being planned for the fair in 2013. As always organizers are interested in new members with new ideas and to help out with the many events that the fair has going on at fair time and before and after the fair.
Watch the paper for the winter suppers and events such as the Winter Fun Day at the High View Farm in January.
