CHESTERVILLE — A local man was arrested Monday after state police said he fired a shot at his roommate inside a residence at 40 Caldwell Lane.
Maine State Police Sgt. Peter Michaud said that police responded to a call at 8:57 a.m. on Monday. The caller reported that he had left the residence after being shot at by Philip Caldwell Jr., Michaud said.
After an investigation, Michaud said it was determined that the two roommates had a dispute while they were in the residence.
The roommate said Caldwell pointed a loaded handgun at him and fired a single shot, which nearly struck him. The victim fled the residence.
When police arrived at the scene, Caldwell came out to talk to police.
Caldwell, 29, of Chesterville was arrested on a charge of reckless conduct with a firearm, Michaud said.
Caldwell remained at the Franklin County Jail in Farmington, where he was being held on $5,000 cash bail.
Fellow state troopers, Franklin County sheriff deputies and a Maine warden assisted Michaud at the scene.
