FARMINGTON — A Chesterville man pleaded guilty Wednesday to threatening to shoot hospital staff and blow up Franklin Memorial Hospital in March.

Carlton J. Elliott, 23, pleaded guilty to two felony charges of terrorizing as a result of being taken to the hospital for evaluation following his arrest on a charge of domestic violence assault.

Justice Michaela Murphy sentenced him to serve 90 days of a two-year sentence to the Department of Corrections, followed by two years probation.

Elliott also pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor charges of violation of conditions of release related to two other cases. He was sentenced to serve 30 days each on those charges, to run concurrently with the terrorizing sentence.

Murphy also banned Elliott from FMH property unless he is there for medical care.

If the matter went to trial, Assistant District Attorney James Andrews said testimony would be heard that Elliott continued to threaten emergency room staff and to blow up the Farmington hospital.

Testimony would also be heard that he told a security guard that he would blow his brains out, Andrews said.

Elliott’s attorney, George Hess, said his client was angry because he had been in accident two months earlier and and police bent his hand back and broke his thumb.

The plea agreement reached between state prosecutors and defense, dismissed two misdemeanor domestic violence assault charges and a misdemeanor charge of carrying a concealed weapon in a separate case. It also dismissed two misdemeanor charges of terrorizing in another case and dismissed a felony charge of tampering with a witness, informant, juror or victim in a third case.
