LEWISTON — A fundraiser will be held to benefit the Multiple Sclerosis Society on Friday, Sept. 21, at the Ramada Inn. Entertainment will be provided by the local band “Evolution.”
Doors open at 7 p.m. and the band will take the stage at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 per person and all proceeds will help the MS Society’s mission to fund research, provide client services and advocate for those affected by this disease.
Multiple Sclerosis is a disease which affects over 3,000 families in Maine and approximately 400,000 people nationwide. Every week about 200 people are diagnosed. Worldwide, MS affects about 2.5 million people. Because the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention does not require United States physicians to report new cases, and because symptoms can be completely invisible, the numbers can only be estimated.
Multiple Sclerosis is a chronic disease which effects the central nervous system and there is currently no cause or cure for this disease.
