From the hallowed halls of Congress to the smallest town hall, President Barack Obama is referred to as un-American. He is constantly ridiculed, his religious beliefs attacked and he is outright smeared as an anti-American Muslim by Mitt Romney’s right-wing, hard-core constituency.
In truth, it has been Romney, in both words and deeds, who has blatantly behaved “un-American.”
It was Romney who supported letting Detroit automakers go bankrupt; who stated, “don’t stop the foreclosures, let the market bottom out.” He is a man who claims to want to create good American jobs, yet profited immensely from outsourcing jobs to Third World countries.
Romney’s latest act of superiority is his utter refusal to release more than one year of his tax returns. It is sheer arrogance on his part to think that his financial dealings are none of the American people’s business.
This man is running for the highest office in the land. So far, we have been told he has been stashing money in Swiss bank accounts and in tax dodges in the Cayman Islands and Bermuda. What else is he hiding?
The only reason I can see for his steadfast refusal to release more of his tax returns is that there is something so shockingly unacceptable in those tax returns, he thinks it will cost him the election.
And where is the patriotism in refusing to pay your fair share to a country that has allowed you to create untold wealth?
