Library’s book, movie sale now on

DIXFIELD — Ludden Memorial Library is having a book and movie sale now through the month of July. The library is open Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.

Girl Scouts holding bbq supper

RUMFORD — Local Girl Scout Troop 356 will hold a barbecue supper from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, at the American Legion Post. All funds raised are to help the troop take a trip to New York City in 2013. Cost is $10 and includes burgers and hot dogs, corn on the cob, salads, drinks and watermelon for dessert.

Church holding strawberry fest

DIXFIELD — The Dixfield Congregational Church will hold their annual Strawberry Festival from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 30, in the annex of the church on High Street. Breakfast will be served all morning featuring Belgian waffles with fresh strawberries and whipped cream or pancakes and sausage or eggs and bacon, OJ and coffee or tea. $6.

There will be baked goods, fresh strawberries, raffles and fresh strawberry shortcakes with homemade shortcake biscuits.

Stephens High Class of 1952

ROXBURY — The class of 1952 from Stephens High School of Rumford will meet for their monthly luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Monday, July 2, at the home of Reggie and Angie Arsenault of Roxbury Pond.

The Arsenaults will provide hamburgers and hot dogs, and members are asked to bring salad or dessert. After lunch, plans will be finalized for the 60th class reunion to be held on Aug. 23 at 49 Franklin. All class members welcome.

Library to host ‘snake man’

MEXICO — As part of the Mexico Public Library’s “Terrific Tuesdays” summer programs for kids ages 2-14, the library will host Rob White, “The Snake Man,” at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 3.

The Snake Man” will present a fun and informative program with his many snakes. This will be a hands-on presentation, so that participants can touch and even hold the snakes, if they wish, or just watch if that’s more in their comfort zone.

The program is for kids of all ages and will be held at the Calvin Lyons Hall, in the basement of the Mexico Town Hall building.

Envision Rumford holding zip line rides

RUMFORD — Zip line rides will be offered from noon to 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 4, at Hosmer Field baseball field entrance on Lincoln Avenue. Cost is $5. Sponsored by the Envision Rumford Committee. For more information, call 364-2983.
