WATERFORD — Four summer breakfasts will be held again this year at Waterford’s Wilkins Community House at the foot of Plummer Hill Road next to the Waterford Congregational Church. The breakfast dates are Wednesdays, July 4, July 18, Aug. 1 and Aug. 15 from 7:30 to 10 a.m. The cost of each breakfast is $7 for adults, $4 for children ages 5 to 10, and free for children under 5.
The Wilkins House Summer Breakfasts, a Waterford tradition of 59 years, are especially well known for their freshly baked muffins but also feature an extensive menu of scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, pancakes, donuts, coffee, tea and orange juice. Workers for a kitchen or dining room shift are always welcome to join the breakfast work crew, where many friendships have been formed over the years. Interested volunteers should call Ginny at 583-2729 for further information.
While the breakfasts are happening on the main floor, the cool basement of the Wilkins House will be the site of an indoor yard sale from 7:30 to 11 a.m. on each of the breakfast dates. Bargain hunters will find treasures galore, with new items appearing at each sale. Proceeds from the yard sales go to building maintenance funds for the Community House and the church.
The Wilkins Community House is available for community and private events by calling 583-4673.
