NORWAY — A free supper will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. Friday, June 15, at Second Congregational Church on Main Street.

‘Famous’ chicken pie
HARRISON — The Bolsters Mills United Methodist Church will hold its “Famous” Chicken Pie Supper Saturday, June 16, at the church in Bolsters Mills Village. There will be seatings at 5 and 6 p.m., with a third to follow at 7 if needed.
The cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children under 12. The doors open at 4 p.m. with waiting available in the sanctuary.
Dinner includes chicken pie, mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetable, rolls, homemade dessert and beverage and is served family style.
Although accommodations will be made to try to not turn anyone away, it is recommended that reservations be made the morning of the supper between 9 a.m. and noon. Call 583-9024 during those hours for confirmation. Do not leave a message.
The church is handicap accessible and air conditioned.
Aquatic plant identification
LOVELL — The Volunteer Lake Monitoring Program, in conjunction with the Lovell Invasive Plant Prevention Committee, has scheduled a free aquatic plants identification workshop from 1 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 21, in the Stephen & Tabitha King Meeting Room on the lower level of the Charlotte Hobbs Library.

This is an intensive hand-on program intended to familiarize participants with both native and non-native (invasive) plants. The workshop is presented in four parts: Overview of invasive species issues in Maine and beyond; Plant identification fundamentals; Plant identification hands-on exercise with live plants; and Conducting a screening survey, tools and techniques.
All workshop participants receive an “Invasive Plant Patroller’s Handbook,” and Maine’s Field Guide to Invasive Aquatic Plants.
Meatloaf supper
SUMNER — The Congregational Church of East Sumner will have a paid public supper at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, June 23. The meal will be meatloaf with mashed potatoes, vegetables, rolls and dessert.
The cost will be $7 per person or $25 for an immediate family of more than three. There will be raffle items following the meal, which will include jams and pies.
All proceeds benefit the work of the church, which includes youth camp scholarships and community assistance. For information call Bill at 388-2263.
Cryptogram winners
PARIS — Winners of May’s Paris Public Library’s Cryptogram Challenge were Beverly Kerry, placing first, and Phyllis Dow, second.
The next challenge will be on Monday, June 25. The time has been changed to 10:30 a.m. All ages are welcome.

Apply for wind scholarship
WOODSTOCK — The first Spruce Mountain Wind college scholarship for graduating high school seniors has been announced. The $5,000 scholarship is open to children and grandchildren of landowners in Woodstock or Milton Township.
The scholarship is for students who have a strong interest in renewable energy, sustainability or the environment. Applications are due by June 30. The winner will be chosen by two people from Patriot Renewables and three people from Woodstock. The winner will be announced on Aug. 1.
To apply send the following information to info@patriotrenewables.com: Name, address, phone number and a copy of your high school transcript, what college you plan on attending and your intended field of study, as well as an essay of no more than 750 words about the importance of renewable energy or energy conservation.
