LINCOLNVILLE/TENANTS HARBOR — As part of the University of Maine Cooperative Extension, Tanglewood and Blueberry Cove 4?H Camps have been offering fantastic summer camp experiences to Maine youth for 30 years.

Blueberry Cove offers four Teen Discovery Trips designed with adventurous 12- to 17-year-old campers in mind: Deep Sea Fishing, Islands & Sea, Captain’s Quest, and Rivers, Rocks, Ropes and Mountains. Teens who sign up for these trips will be fishing 10 miles out to sea, exploring the ocean by canoe from an island base camp and challenging themselves with advanced sailing lessons in Tenants Harbor.

Rivers, Rocks, Ropes and Mountains is the ultimate high adventure trip for teens. Based out of Adventure Bound, a youth adventure resort in Caratunk, campers raft class IV whitewater, climb and rappel a 90-foot cliff, navigate class III whitewater in inflatable kayaks, experience a high ropes course and hike on the Appalachian Trail.

Tanglewood’s Outdoor Discovery Trips are for campers 9 to 14 years old who love the remote wilderness. A special emphasis is placed on learning primitive wilderness skills and how to live and play lightly on the land.

Living with the Earth offers 9 to 11 year olds a great introduction to camping, hiking, primitive wilderness skills and canoeing, building a foundation for advanced-level trips. During Ducktrap Exploration, 11 to 13 year old campers explore the mountains, river, forest and sea of the Ducktrap watershed. The trip culminates with a ferry ride to Islesboro and a short canoe trip to Warren Island State Park.

Appalachian Trail and Myra’s Adventure are hiking and ocean?side adventures that challenge campers and reward them with a sense of accomplishment.

Summer day camps and residential camps and school programs are also offered at both sites. For a complete list of programs and more detailed information, visit www.umaine.edu/tanglewood.
