FARMINGTON — Alice Mary Redfield, 93, of Farmington, formerly of Chesterville, passed peacefully Monday, April 9, at Sandy River Center for Healthcare and Rehabilitation.

She was born Feb. 19, 1919, in Pittston, Pa., a daughter of George V. and Bessie M. (Carey) Weber. She graduated from Pittston High School in 1937, and attended Wilksboro Business College in Pennsylvania, and graduated from The Easton School for Physicians Aides in New York City.

She was employed as a supervisor by RCA in New Jersey, while studying in New York. After graduation, she worked for the New Jersey Department of Health in Newark. She married James S. Redfield Jr. on Dec. 8, 1945, in Newark, before moving to Roseland, N.J. She was assistant manager at West Essex Savings and Loan in Caldwell, N.J., for 15 years.

After moving to Maine, she was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and enjoyed serving in the Women’s Society of which she was a past president, and participating in the choir. She was a member and past president of the FMH Auxiliary and was also a member of the Grange and was a ballot clerk for the town of Chesterville.

She is survived by a daughter, Marilyn Redfield Smith and her husband, Thomas, of Folsom, La.; a son, James S. Redfield III and his wife, Kathy, of Framingham, Mass.; grandchildren, Jennifer L. Smith, Emily K. Smith, Sarah Smith Hellyer, and her husband, Lewis, Kathryn Redfield Zucala and her husband, Brian and Morgan J. Redfield and her fiance, Gregory Smith; great-grandchildren, Zachary Hellyer, Nicholas, Andrew and Justin Zuccala; former daughter-in-law, Diane Malone Redfield.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband.

Her family thanks the staff of Sandy River and AHCH for the care she received these last few months. A special heartfelt thanks to Tammy Davis, Mary Ann Fischer and Tammy Brann for their love and care the past few years in helping her remain independent for as long as she did.
