Texting and driving continues to be a problem in Maine. I think people should be more aware of texting and driving because it could kill the driver and others.
According to National Public Radio, in 2008 alone, more than 500,000 people were injured and 6,000 people were killed while texting and driving.
Texting while driving is one of the most significant dangers out there on the road. I believe that because when people text they look down at the phone and they don’t pay attention to the road.
In recent studies, it has been shown that texting while driving is actually more dangerous than driving while drunk. I think that is so true because when people are drunk they are at least looking up, but when people text they look down, causing an accident.
If people break the law and drive recklessly, they could be punished with a fine of $500 and 90 days in jail.
A solution to the problem might be for parents to become stronger role models by not texting and driving and shutting the phone off in the car.
Future technological developments are in the process of literally shutting the phone off while in a moving vehicle.
Texting and driving is a big problem in Maine. People should stop texting and driving because we could make roads safer for everyone.
