FARMINGTON — An opportunity to learn how to save money during difficult times will be offered on Stretch-A-Dollar Day.

The Western Maine CA$H Coalition will sponsor workshops from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 24, at Mt. Blue Middle School.

Stretch-A-Dollar Day will feature 15 workshops designed to help individuals and families stretch their hard-earned money.

Workshops include “Crash Course in Credit,” “Eating Well for Less,” “How to Pay for Education,” “Pampering on a Penny,” “Riding the Economic Roller Coaster” and “Extreme Couponing,” among others.

Area organizations, financial institutions and businesses will be available throughout the day, in the resource area.

The event is free and open to the public. It includes a free lunch and an opportunity to win either $100 in gas or $100 in groceries.

The Western Maine CA$H (Creating Assets, Savings and Hope) Coalition provides free tax preparation by IRS-certified volunteers throughout the tax season. It also helps build a more secure financial future for residents of greater Franklin County by offering opportunities to learn about ways to earn money, keep more of it and grow it.

Stretch-A-Dollar Day is made possible through the support of KeyBank Foundation, the Annie E. Casey Foundation and Casey Family Services, in partnership with UMF’s Partnerships for Success.
