FARMINGTON — The Franklin Memorial Hospital Auxiliary has presented the volunteer department with a hospitality cart to be used by volunteers to deliver donated items to patients and family members in the oncology department.

“This cart will be stocked with items donated by community members such as handmade hats and blankets, puzzle books, playing cards, fresh flowers, note cards, refreshments, and oncology-approved personal care items,” said Charlie Woodcock, FMH director of volunteer services. “We specifically chose items that make patients more comfortable, help pass the time during treatment or brighten their day.”

According to Shannon Smith, auxiliary president, the charitable group selected W.A. Mitchell to design and build the cart because of its reputation for outstanding quality and workmanship. She added, “We’re so glad to be able to give back to the hospital because of our successful fundraising. It’s a very rewarding feeling for our members.”

The auxiliary plans activities and special events that raise thousands of dollars annually to support Franklin Memorial Hospital. The hospital’s gift shop is the auxiliary’s major fundraiser in its mission to provide financial support for the hospital for special projects and equipment.

The auxiliary also raises money by way of membership dues, memorial stones in the healing garden, raffles, uniform and shoe sales, special events and the Remembrance Tree.

New auxiliary members are welcome. If interested, contact Smith at 778-4726 or e-mail scsmith@beeline-online.net.

Volunteers are also welcome to provide support and assistance to patients, visitors and staff. If interested, contact Woodcock at 779-2552 or cwoodcock@fchn.org.
