APL book sale

AUBURN — A book sale will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, at the Auburn Public Library, in the basement book room. There is lots of everything, including hardcover fiction, classics, Bibles, languages, politics, and specials on romances and children’s books.

The sale will take place on the last Thursday of each month through May.

Pathways4U

LEWISTON — A workshop, Pathways4U, will take place from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, Feb. 23 through May 17, at Community Concepts, 175 Bates St.

The free workshop is for anybody who is ready to make changes and who wants to explore their hopes, goals and dreams. Participants will learn to develop a plan for the meaningful life they want and connect the strengths and resources they already have. The course is a self-help, empowerment opportunity for developing balance.

Shakespeare event

AUBURN — The Poland Stage Troupe will present an evening with Shakespeare at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 1, at the Auburn Public Library.

Most people have always wanted to see a Shakespearean play — or at least think they should — but now they can have all 37 in one phenomenal evening of action and mirth. The crowd will cheer as the Tudor monarchs play football for the crown, salivate while Titus Andronicus hosts a cooking show and finally discover why Hamlet is such an emotional wreck.

AUBURN — The Missions/CRS Office of the Diocese of Portland will host Thomas Awiapo, a native of Ghana and advocate for Catholic Relief Services, an international organization that provides aid to more than 100 countries around the world.

Awiapo, now global solidarity coordinator of CRS in Ghana, will speak to the public about the Catholic faith concerning social justice, global solidarity and his own experiences as a recipient of Operation Rice Bowl, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, March 2, at St. Philip’s Church on Route 4 across from Lake Auburn.

Hafford benefit

AUBURN — A benefit spaghetti supper will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, March 3, at the American Legion Post 31 on Washington Avenue. The event is to assist Jeramy Hafford, who has been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer and must travel frequently to the Boston Medical Center for treatment.

Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children five years old and under. Entertainment presented by the Broadstreet Band from 7 to 9 p.m.

Raffle tickets are $2 each or $5 for three and will be available to purchase at the door. Prizes include “Circle of Life” necklace donated by Day’s Jewelry, Miche bag, Avon and Scentsy baskets. Winners are announced at the benefit but do not need to be present. Arrangements will be made for pickup if necessary. Anyone wishing to donate may do so by contacting Valerie Rowe at 224-8186.
