FARMINGTON — A Portland man admitted Wednesday he drove the car that two other men loaded up with more than $5,000 worth of stolen goods from Walmart on April 16, 2011.

Brian Elliot, 35, pleaded guilty to a felony theft charge in Franklin County Superior Court.

Justice Michaela Murphy sentenced Elliott to serve a two-year deferred disposition, meaning if he complies with everything outlined in the agreement, he will be able to withdraw his plea to the felony theft and plead to a misdemeanor theft charge.

If the case had gone to trial, Assistant District Attorney James Andrews said witnesses would have testified that two men got out of a blue car, went into the store, filled containers with computer games, DVDs and electronics and got into the blue car driven by Elliot. The car was stopped on Red School House Road and the items recovered, Andrews said.

Elliot and co-defendants Michael Lovejoy, 31, of Hampton, N.H., and Jacob Landry, 37, of Buxton, are prohibited from entering any Walmart during the length of deferred disposition or probation.
