LITCHFIELD — The Smithfield Plantation Board of Trustees meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, at the Litchfield Town Office. Voting on by-law changes will take place.
Wing night fundraiser
LEWISTON — Wing Night will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, at the Green Ladle. The event, a fundraiser for Lewiston Regional Technical Center’s marketing class, will feature all-you-can-eat wings, nachos and chili. Tickets will be sold at the door, and prior tickets sold will be honored. The event was rescheduled from January.
Valentines party
LISBON FALLS — The Lisbon Historical Society will host its annual Valentine’s Day Party on Wednesday, Feb. 8, at the MTM Center, 18 School St. Free and open to the public. The event will include an optional “hand-made” Valentine card swap, games and prizes.
Attendees are encouraged to bring artifacts, share a story or recite a poem relating to Valentine’s Day. There will be refreshments. Wear something red to add to the festivities.

‘Balanced living’
LEWISTON — The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing at Central Maine Medical Center is offering a free rejuvenating workshop for anyone interested in participating. “Balanced Living in a Busy World” will take place Thursday, Feb. 9, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at CMMC, 12 High St., Conference Room I.
Wellness educator Marcy Covey will discuss tips and techniques for increasing peace in life and becoming rejuvenated.
Covey serves as a wellness instructor at CMMC’s Wellness Center, teaching yoga classes and Fit-N-Fun exercise classes for seniors. She assists with the Dempsey Center’s Wellness for Life program for cancer survivors by introducing them to yoga. She is the owner of Dragonfly Healing Touch Massage Studio in Poland.

Bake sale
BRUNSWICK — The annual “Sweets for the Sweet” Valentine Bake Sale will be held Friday, Feb. 10, at Mid Coast Hospital, sponsored by the auxiliary to benefit health career scholarships. The sale will be held in the Cafe Corridor at 123 Medical Center Drive from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Auxiliary members, hospital volunteers, employees and community members all donate their special homemade baked goods and candies for this annual sale. Donations may be left in the Volunteer Office Wednesday and Thursday, Feb. 8 and 9, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Treats will include cookies, quick and yeast breads, coffee cakes, cinnamon rolls, cakes, cherry tarts, pies and homemade fudge.
Prospective applicants for health career scholarships are reminded that the deadline to apply is April 15, and applications are on the hospital website at www.midcoasthealth.com/volunteer.

Chemo workshop
LEWISTON — The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing at Central Maine Medical Center is offering a free chemotherapy workshop for cancer survivors, family members and friends. “Chemotherapy: How to Ease Your Worries and Your Symptoms” will take place Friday, Feb. 10 from 11 a.m. to noon at CMMC, 12 High St., Conference Room H.
Some common side effects from chemotherapy include fatigue, nausea, vomiting, decreased blood cell counts and pain. CMMC Oncology Nurse Tamara English will discuss what causes side effects, how to prevent and cope, and when to ask your doctor for help.
