LEWISTON — Police were investigating Friday night after a 3-year-old boy overdosed on his father’s prescription painkiller.
The child was taken to Central Maine Medical Center early Friday night and was still there being treated later in the evening.
Police said it appeared the boy found a pill inside the Elm Street apartment where he lives with his father. Once it became clear that the boy had overdosed, the father sought out the child’s mother and then the couple went to the hospital, police said.
Hours later, police were still investigating the matter and questioning those involved. By 10:30 p.m., no arrests had been made but police stressed that charges were a possibility.
