PHIPPSBURG, Maine (AP) — Authorities say a Phippsburg man has died in an all-terrain vehicle accident.

Police say 20-year-old Justin Thomas was rounding a curve just before 1 a.m. Monday when the ATV struck a utility pole.

A spokesman for the Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office tells The Portland Press Herald (http://bit.ly/rzDWc2) there was a steady rain at the time and wet road conditions as well as speed were likely factors in the accident.

Thomas had a helmet with him, but it’s unclear whether he was wearing it.
