LEWISTON — Lewiston Adult Education’s winter/spring semester is now open for registration. More than 100 courses will be available, in many different subjects from art to accounting, computers to cooking, painting to personal investing, drawing to dance, finance to fitness, massage to metaphysics, and more.
Courses in each of Lewiston Adult Education’s workforce training certificate programs, including the clerical, accounting assistant, medical office, culinary arts and welding certificates, as well as a certified nursing assistant, will be available this winter.
Many computer classes will be offered at a variety of different levels. Beginner-level courses, such as computer literacy, keyboarding and computer basics and computers for seniors will be available, as well as more advanced courses in specific program technology, such as MS Excel, MS Access, MS Word, QuickBooks, Adobe Photoshop, advanced computer repair, iPad and open-source technology including Gimp and Scribus.
Academic classes will be available for members of the community interested in earning their high school diploma or GED. A free course, the college transition program, will also be offered to adults interested in transitioning to a college degree program. English courses for speakers of other languages will be available, as well as a citizenship preparation course.
As always, dozens of personal enrichment courses will be offered in arts, crafts, cooking, dance, fitness, finance, gardening, personal wellness and more. Most enrichment courses meet in the evenings. Some are as short as one night, others as long as 10 weeks.
