AUBURN – Mechanics Savings Bank has announced the winning original photographs selected to be featured in its 2012 Moving Places and Spaces calendar. The bank chose photographs by local residents that capture the beauty of area communities served by Mechanics Savings Bank in Androscoggin and Cumberland Counties.
The community photographers and their selected photographs are as follows:
Linda Pease, Turner, for “Spring Snow,” Turner; Dan Lacasse, Auburn, for “Red Barn in Winter,” New Gloucester, and Lake Auburn; David Mireault, Auburn, for Pine Street Cemetery and Great Falls Veterans Park; Christina Epperson, Lewiston, for Center Bridge, Turner; Jeff Haggerty, Auburn, for “Winter on Park Avenue,” Auburn, and Great Falls, Lewiston; Tyler Michaud, Lewiston, for Simard-Payne Memorial, Lewiston; Kathy Lacasse, Auburn, for Ricker Hill Orchard, Buckfield, and Bates College Chapel, Lewiston.
A photograph of Pleasant Lake in Casco, taken by James Gerry, an employee at Mechanics Saving Bank’s Windham banking center, was also selected for the calendar.
A special student award was given to Kaitlyn Jewett, an eighth grader at Oxford Hills Middle School. Several of her photographs are featured on the back page of the calendar.
Contest entrant Ray Anctil of Greene received a $100 cash award. His name was selected in a random drawing of all entries. More than 100 photographs were entered in the contest.
Entrants were allowed to submit up to four original photos of local nature scenes, towns, villages or cities located in Androscoggin and Cumberland counties. Each photographer with one or more photos selected for the calendar was awarded $100.
